 Lions Head Portal, Matong Gorge

Explore the natural wonders - the awesome Matong Gorge, where Matong Creek carves a spectacular cliff lined gorge hundreds of meters deep, around the foot of Wobbyong Mountain as it plunges down to join the Snowy River.
In the Black Cypress forests of the gorge rim, you can be serenaded by that Australian Master of Mimicry,the Lyre bird.
On a Stone Bridge Tour keep watch for wallabies, kangaroos, wombats, emus, echidnas, reptiles and native birds.

 Shearing

Visit the homestead to break for a hearty shearer’s lunch, then on to the shearing shed to shear a sheep.
Feel the silky white wool that goes on to be used in the highest quality fashions and fabrics. | Travel the private four wheel drive tracks to Goat Point and on to the legendary Stone Bridge, where the Snowy River disappears into solid granite, beneath massive boulders. The Snowy emerges hundreds of meters downstream after threading its way through holes, cracks and fissures.

| Through the eons the river has used water, sand and stones to carve this natural granite barrier into a unique fantasy of flutes, ripples, holes and pools; intricately carved shapes fit to grace an art gallery according to the Australian Geographic Book, “The Snowy Mountains”.

Transfers from and return to your accommodation are also available. | Group size is a maximum of six. We recommend casual clothing including long trousers (warm clothing in the colder months), sturdy non slip footwear, a hat and your camera. Please note that a prevailing weather in the Snowy Mountains can change unexpectedly, we reserve the right to alter the itinerary to suit.
Nature dictates that this tour is only suitable for able bodied persons, (short walks on uneven, natural surfaces).
